Brookline Soccer Club
Registration for Team Coaches, Assistant Coaches,
and Managers
Spring 2008
Thank you for volunteering with the Brookline Soccer Club! Our program could
not exist without your help. Here’s some important information regarding
registration for the
fall season:
Coach registration – All new coaches,
assistant coaches, and team managers must fill out the on-line
Club registration form. After you have submitted the
form, your email address will be added to the Club coaches' mailing list.
If you're a returning coach
or manager and your contact information
(address, phone #, email address) has changed in the last year, you should also
fill out the registration form so that we have your updated information. If your
contact information has not changed, you do not need to fill out the form, but
be sure to let the Club registrar know that you need to be added to the coaches'
mailing list.
CORI check – Under state law, every adult
volunteer in a youth sports program must have a criminal offender background
check. Our CORI checks are handled through the Mass. Youth Soccer Association.
All new coaches and other adult volunteers must fill out the
on-line
CORI form -- it only takes a couple of minutes.
If you are a returning coach and
completed a CORI check in either 2005 or 2006, you do NOT need to do it again this year.
Coaching passcards – At every game, each
team must be under the supervision of a coach or manager holding a current,
valid US Youth Soccer coaching passcard. Referees are instructed not to permit a
game to begin without having a coaching passcard for each team. Every head coach
must have a passcard. We strongly urge each team to have at least one or two
others with passcards in the event a head coach cannot be present. Registered
coaches and managers can obtain a coaching passcard by sending a passport-size
photo (max. 1-1/2" x 1-1/2"), and a self-addressed envelope to: Jeff Wulfson,
618 Washington St, Brookline MA 02446. You will receive your passcard with a
current validation sticker by return mail.
If you are a returning coach and have
a passcard from last year, you will need to have the passcard validated for the
current year. Send the card and a self-addressed envelope to the above address.
You will receive your validated card by return mail. (Note: the soccer year runs
from August through July, so cards validated for the spring season must be
revalidated for the fall season.) Please allow at least a week for passcard
processing. Sorry, but we cannot accommodate requests for in-person drop-offs or
pick-ups of materials.
Passcards and photos can also be brought to the
pre-season coaches' meeting for on-the-spot processing.
